Joe designs all of the guitars, builds all of the Heritage Series instruments, and oversees the Quality Control process of the Standard/Select/Select Custom Series instruments. He also designs & develops all of the Balaguer Pickups/Pedals, and oversees Artist Relations.
You’ll find Jaime at trade shows and local shop events, but he mainly oversees the day-to-day business operations. Did you know that he’s our resident Dave Grohl/Keanu Reeves lookalike? Well now you do.
If you’ve ordered or plan to order a guitar, then Mike is the man creating your spec sheets to keep track of the build and to ensure all specs are correct. He also assists in the shop with logistics/shipping and assists with customer service and social media.
Pat handles the Quality Control process of every guitar that comes through our shop. Every instrument goes through a 46-point checklist which he has to sign off on before the guitar/bass leaves the shop! He’s also in a killer metal band called Counterfeit Culture.
ARTIST RELATIONS REP
Jon assists with our Artist Relations department here at BG. He’s also a great guy to talk specs with if you’re unsure of what pickups or specs would suit you best!
Meet our TEAM
Our Production Series & Semi-Custom Series are built in South Korea by these wonderful people!
John runs the South Korean shop and handles business expansion overseas. He is instrumental in making sure our Semi-Custom Series retains our high-quality standards.
R&D MANAGER/LEAD LUTHIER
Chris is the head luthier in the South Korean shop and also handles R&D when we are prototyping new models or changing aspects of current models. His attention to detail is awesome and is a crucial part of the BG team!
Andy handles logistics and business operations overseas. He ensures your guitar gets to our shop in Pennsylvania safely and in a timely manner.
“Where Modern Design Meets Vintage Inspiration.”
Our goal at Balaguer Guitars is to build instruments that translate your creativity in the truest way. After Joe Balaguer graduated luthiery school in 2009, he focused not only on improving the designs he grew to love, but also on developing original designs that fuse modern design aesthetics with vintage inspiration. Our Production Series guitars are designed and engineered in Pennsylvania, USA and are built in partnership with a small shop of trained luthiers in South Korea, only 14 people to be exact. These luthiers all have over 15-30 years of experience. This factory has been building guitars since 1985 and we chose to partner with them because their quality is top notch, and they focus on their craftsmanship over quantity. Our Semi-Custom Series guitars are built within that same South Korean shop, but only by the 3 head luthiers. This is how we are able to offer our guitars at affordable prices, but retain our high standards of quality and tone. With that said, we also offer our limited Heritage Series, which are machined/built, painted, and assembled in the United States from start to finish. One thing that we believe wholeheartedly is that the country of manufacture is no longer relevant if you find the right shop/factory to partner with. Our partners in South Korea share our vision on quality, design, and progression in the industry.
Our approach to guitar design is quite simple. We love classic designs, but feel they lack in certain areas. Those areas pertain to comfort, tone, and construction. So in our designs you’ll see a deep treble horn inner carve, or a more sleek heel joint versus a block plate, and chambering where you might not see in other “big brand” guitars. We are all for pushing the envelope with design, but we would be lying if we said we weren’t traditionalists at heart. Come see where modern design meets vintage inspiration.
Our boutique series of instruments, with specs chosen and built by Joe Balaguer, use hand-picked, private stock woods in limited quantities per year.
Do you offer Artist Endorsements/Discounts?

Meet our ambassadors
Our Brand Ambassadors are here to help with your builds, spread the word about Balaguer Guitars, and push the brand forward!
John is the go-to guy for all things Purple. Beyond his love for the color Purple, he’s a great player and is very knowledgeable of all things gear-related. He’s very helpful if you ever have a question about wood choices, tremolo/bridge options, or just need someone to bounce ideas off of.
Our resident Canadian! Besides his love of maple syrup, Sean has a wide arrange of talent as an Industrial Arts Teacher, metal meets worship guitarist, and is a great person to discuss wood types, pickup options, and other build specs.
Greg is an idea man and will be the first ambassador to tell you to choose Wenge for the neck wood of your build. He’s very knowledgeable and helps us push the brand forward with new/exciting ideas!
Having owned quite a few different models, Matt is a great point person to chat with concerning how each guitar feels and what to expect. Like all our ambassadors, he knows his stuff and can point you/your build in the right direction if you have any questions/concerns.
